Gittel's Kitchen

Gittel's Kitchen, the region's only kosher soup kitchen, is run entirely by Maimonides School students. Founded by Jessica Singer Rich '98 in memory of her mother (whose Hebrew name was Gittel), it first opened on January 8, 1998.

Although the soup kitchen dishes up only kosher dairy food — donated from area kosher caterers and restaurants, primarily Milk Street Café — its services are open to all.

Located in the basement of a Cleveland Circle synagogue, Temple B'nai Moshe (1845 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton), Gittel's Kitchen is open every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.
